PROFILE

LOCATION

Nestled within the hills on the outskirts of Cebu City, Cebu Homecraft’s sprawling modern factory sits on 4,500 square meters of land.  Its team of forty skilled workers provides technical support to the company’s many subcontractors.

SOCIAL RESPONSIVENESS

Cebu Homecraft is a company with a heart for social progress.  Its production processes are designed such that receiving, dyeing, and other preparation of raw materials are done at the factory.  The manufacturing of actual products, however, is carried out by a network of subcontractors located in different outreach communities throughout the Philippines.  This method of production provides much needed work for the families in these communities, where in most cases subcontracting for Cebu Homecraft is their only source of income.  To ensure consistency of quality, the company’s product controllers visit each subcontractor on a regular basis.  Finished products are then delivered to the factory where they undergo a final quality inspection, are packed, bar-coded, and shipped to the company’s customers.

STRENGTHS

  • Uncomprising colour quality. The company uses German AZO free dyestuff which are weighed to 1,000th of a gram. The company has developed systems and infrastructure that ensure colors remain standard from year to year.
  • A network of subcontractors located from Southern Luzon to Northern Mindanao dedicated and loyal to the company.
  • An in-depth knowledge of natural fibres and products made from natural materials and connections with suppliers of natural fibres and materials that span the Philippines.
  • A management team headed by a British expat made up of professional and experienced staff.
  • A dedicated and flexible research and development and color matching department.

FLORAL ACCESSORIES

The company’s roots are firmly anchored in the floral packaging and accessory market. Cebu Homecraft supplies a small number of the biggest names in the floral packaging industry with its main buyers located in Japan, Germany, Holland, Spain and the United States.

Over the course of its 15 year history, Cebu Homecraft has pioneered products that have become the bread and butter of export companies all over the Philippines; abaca fiber sheeting (scrunch) and Tagasi fiber sheeting are but two of the many products that were first developed by Cebu Homecraft.

INTERIORS COLLECTION

The Manila F.A.M.E. exhibition of April 2007 witnessed the launch of Cebu Homecraft’s first Interiors Collection.  The company, using its knowledge of natural fibres, locally made fabrics and its expertise in dyeing, introduced a stunning collection of exciting color-coordinated raffia and abaca objects for the home. The range, designed by a team of English and Columbian designers, included cushions in an explosion of colours and forms.

Inspired by the success of its first exhibition, Cebu Homecraft unveiled a more comprehensive – and no less exciting – “Interiors Collection” in the Manila F.A.M.E. of October 2007.  Driftwood and dried curly vines, normally supplied as they are found to the floral market, were transformed into stylish and functional masterpieces. The range includes candlesticks, tables, mirrors, bar stools and many other products aside.

For the same exhibition, Homecraft also expanded its line of home accessories to include roman blinds, picture frames, mirrors, table settings and light shades.  Exciting new color themes and original product designs expanded and rendered the natural fibre hand-woven accessories a fresh perspective.

Cebu Homecraft sets much importance to product research and development. In the October 2008 Manila Fame exhibition the company launched its range of 100% natural, organic cushions, combining hand-woven abaca and raffia fabric with the ultra soft closely woven bamboo fabric.

The same market also saw the unveiling of Cebu Homecraft’s line of driftwood sculptures.  A full sized horse stood sentry to the booth, tail swept by the breeze and head cocked to one side.

DIRECTION

Cebu Homecraft is poised to further enhance its existing product lines, boost market presence by participating in local and international shows, and reinforce customer support through continual research and development.

The company intends to nurture its Floral Accessories market through remaining cost efficient and competitive while continuing to develop new floral sheeting and natural products.

The company will continue to add value to its driftwood products by means of new designs and assembly techniques.
